Finally got around to brew a beer again, first time since... April maybe?
anyway, wanted to brew something and get back into it.
Got a new fridge after moving (thanks Canon1ball !) and a new fermenter to fit the smaller fridge. My trusty old Coopers fermenter was a bit too wide so a new one from Dave's was in order.
Thought I'd do a Dr. Smurto's Golden Ale kind of inspired thing, only as a mid-strength and toning down the late hopping a touch.
Ended up using
2 kg of pilsner malt
0.8 kg of Munich, light
0.7 kg of Munich, dark
0.4 kg of wheat malt
1.0 kg of Carapils
25 gr Cascade @60 min
15 gr Amarillo @10 min
10 gr Amarillo @5 min
For 25 litres of
OG: 1.038
IBU: 26 IBUs
pitched hydrated US-05 into 1.2 litres of wort overnight to really kick it off then pitched this onto aerated NoChill cube in fermenter this morning.
Came home tonight to big krausen on the beer, good stuff!
Great to brew again, and nice to have a small bar fridge hidden away in a kitchen cupboard.
thanks
