Troops - very excited, get to test my new mash tun. Here's what I've got:
85% - 3.4 kgs of Trad Ale
10% - 400gs of Wheat Malt
5% - 200gs of Amber Malt
1kg Med LME
100g of Amarillo pellets
Via Gerard at NDB. Have an American Ale liquid yeast ready too. Intend to do the following:
- Mash as close to 66deg w/ 10l of water
- Fly sparge with 20l of 78deg water (is that correct, or am I way off track)
What I need to sort out is:
- Hop addition schedule?
- How long should I boil for?
- How much liquid will I lose during the boil - I'd like to end up with 22-25l?
I believe that I'll get an OG of 1044 and FG of 1017, so it'll be quite a lite beer - which is fine. Any hints and tips?
