Fire extinguisher refill - without diffuser fitting?

I've had my fire extinguisher for probably over 10years now, but I think I recall being told that the fire extinguisher servicers / re fillers, will not refill them without the diffuser fitting in. Unfortunately the last time it was filled the guy who refilled it for me didn't put in the gas diffuser back in, so I'm without one. Will the extinguisher re fillers / CFA lads refill without one of these diffusers or am I imagining things?

most guys just then understand and fill it up
