Any one got a filter system set up to stop any junk entering the plate chiller?

I just flushed mine and could not believe the amount of build up in there. I run the wort through the hop spider as it enters the kettle. I use a hop spider for hops. So in theory there should be very minimal bits and pieces, but that theory is out the window!!

No filter here. Just a half arsed whirlpool and a proper post use flush, cleaning and re-flush afterwards. I don't use a hop sock either. If your cleaning procedure is good, you won't have a problem. Even if it's not, if you fill the chiller with 90+ degree wort and leave it to sit a minute or two before chilling proper you're unlikely to run into dramas.

i run the wort through the chiller from 20 mins to flame out. so liklihood of an issue is low, but its anothr 1% improvement im looking for.

on your rig fb, wots the stainless cylinder? somethign like that ith some sainless mesh inside would be what im after
