Was given a used fermentor, it did 2 ciders and bloke didn't like them, not a beer drinker.

I have been doing BIAB in a 19l pot and can make 11l batches this way but to get any volume it is a pita to do several brews to fill a fermenter.

I am wanting to turn the fermenter into a mash tun similar to the esky type. Insulated etc. but no heating element so will still have to use 2 pots for the boil and mash in. It also has pre determined water levels etc so trying to keep it simple and cheap.

When I have used the mini BIAB I sparge to get enough water to bring my gravity up to the 11l and kettle loss, so have some knowelage of sparging etc.

Could I just use some stainless screen over the tap hole inside or would a false bottom of some sort be better? I could also fit some of that braided hose some how.

Putting this one out to the brain trust.

Cheers.
