Put 2 brews down 3 days ago, one is stll bubbling away, but the 2nd was an out of date yeast, it started all normal, but bubbled up through the airlock, cleaned and resterilised airlock and reinserted, but since it has stopped bubbling. can I add a little extra malt or sugar and repitch a new yeast, all answers greatfully recieved

Hi mate,

Bubbling through an airlock doesn't mean much. Check the gravity of a sample in a tube with a hydrometer. Wait a couple of days, then check again. If it's dropped it's still fermenting. If it's the same and it's around the region you'd expect it to end up in then it's finished. If it's the same but the reading is high then it is stalled and there are a number of things you can do to rouse it up again.

Will do a reading in the morning, and will see how it goes, real bummer, as I've never had a proper brew cupboard, and built one last week from a load of crap from the recycling centre, keeps at 21 C made out of rubbish and my first beers to grace this beloved chamber of constant warmth one goes haywire on me. AAARRRGGHH

Lack of bubbles is not really haywire. relax - your beer is probably fine.

Krausen spewing out of the airlock suggests a healthy ferment too. RDWAHAHB.
