hi, have managed to lose the o ring in ny fermentasaurus v1 pressure lid, does anyone know what size i need to order to get a replacement silicon o ring?
Thanks
Dave

I'm sure if you email Keg-King they might have some floating around the place, or alternatively be able to steer you in the right direction for size.

Hi I spoke to keg king and asked them this direct question and they wouldn't / couldn't answer it.
I measured the one in my fermentasaurus and ordered some replacements just in case from aliexpress.

These are the dimensions measured with a vernier gauge

Oring in the butterfly housing ( note goes on the vessel side of the valve)
47.75mm external 41.75 internal so the oring is 3.1mm diameter (give or take)
I went for a 48mm one from here
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000867504808.html?spm=a2g0s.12269583.0.0.5f3b5b31pdprl8
O ring against Pet bottle
36mm external 29.5mm internal so 3 - 3.5mm thick oring
I went for a 36mm one of these
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000867525443.html?spm=a2g0s.12269583.0.0.6f6a38e68nOjyK

O ring inbetween butterfly housing and Ferment vessel
26.75 external and 22 internal so about 2mm diameter oring.
Went for a 26mm rather than 27 here not sure why, think it was because it sits in a groove and easier to stretch into the groove than reduce size

When you look at the websites they aren't the exact figures that I measured but the orings have variance with being squeezed etc when I measured them.

I ended up ordering keg post orings as well as they were so cheap in packets of ten.

Hope this helps.

Hi Dave
unfortunately the seal on the lid is not an "O" ring, it's more of a flat washer with a raised lip on the inside edge, the thickness of the raised lip is 3.5mm and the outside thickness is 1.5mm, internal diameter is 76mm and external diameter is 87mm, an 11mm thick "O" ring might work but I have my doubts.
fwiw the gen 2 and gen 1 use the same lids and seals, but it looks like KK has discontinued these lids in favour of their new "O" ring lid seals. Their FKJ's are different again. Do you still have the gravity lid and seal it came with as standard? Otherwise the only way I can see you getting one is https://www.keg-king.com.au/fermentasaurus-gravity-lid.html.html the seal is the same for both gravity and pressure lids.

The original seal is a flawed design so i'd use a normal round o-ring, it will seal better.
Not if the lid isn't designed for it, which is why I expressed my doubts.
https://www.applerubber.com/hot-topics-for-engineers/how-an-o-ring-works/My gen 1 is still sealing perfectly (and the gen 2's are identical) yes it's a bit of a fiddle and I'm very careful to seat it correctly before tightening the lid, but it works well, "O" rings can and do have their own issues, just ask anyone that's lost a full bottle of co2 due to a failed post "O" ring. Caveat emptor.

The FV opening is too small for the lip of the seal to fit between it and the lid which defeats the purpose of the lip, AFAIK both lids are the originals.

I've got gen 1's and 2's and use the lids and seals interchangeably, as I mentioned it is a bit fiddly and probably not something to do after a bit of QA work, but they do work, the new "O" ring method they are now using is certainly much easier and fairly idiot proof, it's just a shame that with the new lid seals came new vessels. and there was no backward compatibility thought about, or perhaps there was and the consensus was "let's make everyone buy new stuff"
Either way OP was asking about a seal, and hopefully we've been able to assist.

I completely misread this post, sorry for all that info that doesn't help you @zipfly .
I agree with @Grmblz the flat on oneside and lipped edge " washer " on the top of the FS 1 and 2 is a bit fiddly but does work well. Certainly I too can swap them between the types. In fact often put the one that wasn't being used on when I do the next ferment as it seems a bit tighter. I'm not a fan of the new lid and plunger system as a whole. The seal is good though on them just not so good a design for pressure ferment dumping etc.

BUT just checked my odds and sods box and I have 5 spares so pm me if you can't find the
https://www.keg-king.com.au/fermentasaurus-gravity-lid.html.html which has the washer with it. I checked down here and not available at the main NZ stockist for keg king.
Post is really slow but now in level 2 lockdown so the post offices are open.
