Ah, there lies the rub Spog! They're only rated to 80c. :(

Soldering is no big deal. :)

heh spog, these are the greatest thing since sliced bread! I have used them on all my renos in the last year (2 bathrooms, kitchen and a laundry) - no failures, easy peasy, and you can disconnect and reconnect at will. As to the temp rating, they are only rated for domestic water supply, so 80c give s a margin over hottest possible. Wouldnt take too much to test in boiling water though - I'd be amazed if they failed in 100c, given they can do 80- especially when they are rated for high pressure at 80, when pressure for brewing is what, an atmosphere?

Having said that, compression joints are cheaper, and for brewing totally acceptable, and easier to get (supplying kwikfits from plumbing suplliers is a bit hit and miss - plumbers dont like anything that makes their job seem to easy to the householder ;) )

As an ex plumber I think these things are disgusting, where is the craft in pushing things together?

No seriously they are brilliant, especially for modelling a system or while youre still working out where all the pipes will end up.

The O-Rings are fine to around 120 C

Just one cautionary note
If you use a hacksaw to cut the pipe, de-bur it with a file or wet and dry paper, if you score the O-Ring they will leak.
A pipe cutter is the best answer.

These pipes have to withstand a termostat failure (locking on)so they will be able to withstand 100c easy
