Date On Wyeast Smackpacks

Hi,

I received two Wyeast 3944 smackpacks yesterday from G&G and, as I always do, checked the MFG date stamped on the front. Both said they were manufactured on 11 June 2007!!! Surely that has to be some kind of record for a liquid yeast to be packaged by Wyeast, shipped internationally, received and inventoried by G&G and then shipped to me - all in the space of 10 days! :blink:

I have had a similar experience with a Wyeast before, but your correct......... that would be the record

It's quite possible Michael, G&G buy their yeast in every fortnight.

Grain and Grape get a monthly shipment of Wyeast. I was in the store on Monday when the latest shipment arrived ,i.e, manufactured on the 11th of June. Rod opened the boxes to get me a 3068 and it was still nice and cold. They really package the yeast well for transport considering it probably takes a day or two by air freight. Can't get much fresher really.
