Hey guys i am brewing my coopers pale ale kit been in the fermenter 6 days now and is pretty chunky.. i know pale ale is generally chunky but i filled my hydrometer tube up 2 times now and it has quite a few chunks.. mostly from the hops i threw in..

question is do i have to strain it before bottling?
or has it not fully fermented yet as the hops havent been eaten?

on another note, i tasted it its quite nice a little acidic almost but very drinkable, i added cascade hops and safale US-05

Cheers,
Dion.

Sounds pretty good!

Don't worry too much about the chunks. They will settle over time. If you have another fermenter or a sanitized jerry can, you could rack the beer off into that and give it a few weeks to clear up further. If you have a fridge that will fit either, even better!

The hops don't get eaten, they usually settle to the bottom of the fermenter. You might get a couple of floaters, but the beer in the middle should be right!

Iv'e done a similar batch with Cascade hops. I put the hops into a stocking. Boiled the stocking 1st to get rid of excess dyes then just popped hops in and tied it up. Worked a treat and kept all the lumps out of the beer.

BTW the beer is fantastic! :)

thats good to know! i wanted this one to turn out good! i dont have a spare fermenter at this point i do have a fridge however but needs a thermostat.. will just let it settle for another day and a few weeks in the bottle tho..

i didnt boil my hops i was told just throw them in when i did the yeast so i did.. hope it comes out good.. its a real pale colour..

Keep it in the fermenter for 2 weeks, and the yeast should drop all those hop floaties to the bottom.

Hi everyone,

I've just put down a Coopers Pale Ale, I added in some Amarillo Hops 30grams I think, which I boiled in 1 litre of water in a bag. Added the water into the Wort and smells absolutely fantastic. Im hoping it will turn out like a Little Creatures Pale Ale.

Cheers Mcstretch
