The same attitude surfaced in recent posts where the quality of malts was being discussed.

I have always been of the opinion that you will never really know unless you try it for yourself!

If your mate told you Elle MacPherson wasn't so crash hot between the sheets, would you take his word for it, or would you prefer to find out for yourself?

I tend to do a bit of both. If its something that's cheap or I can get a small quantity to try and won't take up huge amounts of my time I will see for myself.

If I have to buy a whole lot and throw it out if I don't like it or it will cost me a lot or it will take me a long time to see if it works then I will rely on recomendations from people whose judgement I trust.

What's this about Elle MacPherson?

Anyway, I'm a bit of a 'try everything' person. As my signature indicates, I made two lagers at the same time, differing only in the hops I dry hopped with, so I could taste the difference. I am making a honey beer with the can yeast, and in about a fortnight I'll make the same honey beer with a different yeast. Experimentation is what I love about home brewing, and that's what I'm trying to do a lot

Thats why I only bought HALF a bag of Powells ale malt...only one more experiment to go

Thats one of the reasons I started that poll Gerard.
It seems that many people are willing to bag POR,but when questioned whether they have used it are actually slagging it off without actually trying it.

Add (edit) I'm actually trying to quantify who is really serious in their denigration/support off this much maligned hop.
