Chest Freezer Up And Running!

Just wanted to share some pictures of the weekend project- have finally managed to set up my chest freezer with a collar and taps. Bought the freezer from a second hand joint after it had been reconditioned/ tested etc- 210 litre capacity. Picked up the kegging gear, lines, taps etc from Ross (thanks Ross) and enlisted a mate's help to knock up and install the collar and the fridgemate. Having just done my first Ag 2 weeks ago, I put that in the keg yesterday, have it set on pouring pressure and look forward to tucking in in a week or so....life is good.

That's a beautiful job you've done there.

I put mine together on the weekend, and it's a pretty amateur-looking job to be honest. What kind of wood is that? How have you joined it?

Hard to see from the photos but the wood is marine ply on the inside and outside with oregon in between, all bonded together, stained sealed and painted- there is still a nice grain visible in the timber. The freezer has a little step on the inside of the lid and on the inside of the top lip which made for much finicky cutting, filing and plenty of swearing...

I'm in the process of puting my keg system together and haven't decided whether to use a freezer or fridge. How many kegs can you fit in a unit that size?

certainly does look fantastic! nice job. however...

i can already see a shortcoming (which clay alludes to). only two taps??? of course i've got the same problem and have plans to remedy it. will your freezer hold any more, or will that exceed capacity? after all that work im sure you want it to be in use for a good long while.

2-3 19L cornie's on the floor, plus two on the compressor. i'll probably stick to 3 kegs and 1 20L cube at a time for now...but in future, who knows- i've left room for another 2 taps

Excellent work Remi, I am about to change over from an upright fridge setup to chest freezer, as Joe said, the only drawback there is two taps, that won't last long no doubt.

Went for the Celli's after a chat with Ross on the phone- thought the flow restrictor was a good bonus as it means only 1m of beer line per tap...and the look pretty bloody sexy
