hi, was this the imperial voyage pale ale kit? when i was doing k&k this was (in my opinion) the best pale ale kit. i used this method with great results:

- 1 kilo of dried pale malt (boil up for approx 10 minswith 3 litres of water)
- in the last 5 minutes of the boil, add 25g of cascade hops
- add the contents of the pale ale tin
- turn off boil and mix up
- add everything to fermenter and fill up to 22L with water
- add 1 pack of us-56 yeast
- 7 days in primary and then rack to secondary for another 7 days

like i said i used to get great results with this one, give it a bash!

no need to boil....just dissolve it all in with the hot water.

You will get a better result from the added Cascade hops if you add them for a short boil.

It also has the advantage of ensuring that you dont introduce any nasties with them.

(Not to mention the aromatic value of boiling hops in the kitchen  )

Fester.

Yeah they love the smell of boiling hops eh?
And boiling wort.
And yeast farts.
Fussy blighters....

got a batch of the cascade pale in bottles right now but not quite ready to drink, followed a similar approach to hughman though i also had some caramunch in there. can't remember which yeast i used, wasn't what came with it.

not quite ready to drink though i think i'll try one this weekend. 'tis my very first brew!

Sounds pretty tasty Hughman. Any thoughts on dry hopping with some more cascade for that little bit extra aroma? If so, is another 15g excessive? I guess that would push it more towards a Little creatures clone tho.....

Just put this down. First time I've:
used a cascade kit, and I live in Hobart
used a yeast not supplied with the kit.

Now to wait for the result.

anyone know about the yeast supplied with the cascade kits, on the packet it says "Bohemian Yeast"
