I just got back from my local bunnings (Mascot) and there were no water barrels at all! Nor were there any 25 litre cubes, or even pails in larger than 25l

Anyone else had the same problem?

Plenty at both Bunnings in Cairns last Sunday.

There were some at Randwick Bunnings last weekend

Still in stock at Glendale NSW last week...not taht I'd ever buy another one. Probably great for storing grain, but the seal on the lid of the one I bought is crap for fermenting.

Unless you're a gladwrapper...

maybe they donated them to the floods and filled them with water?? I doubt that they would stop stocking them its prob just no one told them there out as they dont have a stock counter on there computer well atleast the ones around newcastle dont. ask at the desk if there is any in stock all they say is it on the shelf? if you say no then they say well it must be out of stock? and they usually dont even note it in there computer so stuff is usually out of stock for a few weeks at a time. Great service!

Plenty down at Corio this weekend but other stores I've been too have had none. Its hit and miss.

Heaps here in Morayfield flood central - however stay away from these:

I got a couple on special and they were faulty mouldings with pinholes, which I discovered when I tried to use them for nochill on a double batch. Fortunately I had some genuine Willows that saved the day.

A soldering ironwill fixthem up..

Go to Anaconda (the camping store) in Moore Park Super Centre.

I picked up a 60L round fermenter for $27! They also have the ~30L size ones for around $18 IIRC.

Returned them and bought some genuine Willows - I've emailed Willow to see if they are willing to do some cubes in original white instead of the blue but don't expect any joy.

Yep - had the same problem at the same store.

I'll check out Randwick and Moore park as suggested above! Thanks guys!

Cheers,
Matt

I've not no-chilled in them, but have used one for a fermenter (must have been having a tight arsed brewer moment!) and they are pretty shite. Willow all the way.

Found the same thing at the Mascot store a couple of months back and was told they are a discontinued line. So you may want to grab them if you see them at one of the other stores as their presence may be limited.

Check on the product label, if there is a P, X, or a D they are on there way out. They will most likely have a category S on them.

What brand was this one? I went there last night, and they had 20l and 60l drums, the 20l was about $30, and the 60l was about $60

Could you explain the P, X, D and S thing a bit more please outbreak Sounds like you have an insight to this and what is the replacement codes to look for if they're on their way out? Thanks

it's been a year or so since i left the green shed but...

S = stock regular item
P = Promotional ie a one off buy or limited run stuff. maybe something like a special pack of two hose nozzles, or an extra battery in a cordless drill or just something that Bunno's buyers have bought all of a factory run and they won't be made again

X = one of the deleted codes
D = the other deleted code
i think X is flagged for deletion and D is actually deleted (but i'll stand to be corrected) so keep an eye on X as it's price may be about to drop. but sometimes this can take a month or three...

the other thing to look out for is a date on the label somewhere. usually up the top or near the D from memory. ie something with 11/10 and D will mean it was changed to deleted status in November 2010. the older the date the more deleted it is and the more willing staff (oops team) should be willing to play with the price. as far as i was concerned anything deleted i could sell at cost with no repercussions, so i did. never copped any grief. If it's really old D status it may already be below cost so there may not be any room to move on the price...

as i said it's been a while since i was there i'm open to corrections

Very interesting. Thanks pfs. :icon_cheers:
