Bulk Starsan

Hi Guys

I have a few spare cubes lying around at the moment and had the thought this morning that I should fill one up with Starsan solution and put a tap on it so that I dont have to bugger around with measuring out 1.5ml everytime I sanitise something!

Just wondering if this would degrade the effects of the starsan and if anyone has done this before?

I keep a spray bottle made up around so I assume its the same effect.

I'm not sure about starsan, but with iodophor i find that it goes off after a week in the sprayer. I bought a syringe, so it makes meausring really quick...

yep, unless you use distilled water. some people say they've gotten away with it though. you can monitor the pH, and top it up if it has risen. id just stick to making up a squirty bottle every so often.

from what i have read starsan will last for weeks or longer,long as it don't go cloudy,i make a batch and keep it in a cube,iodophor goes off when it loses it's yellow colour

I did actually search for it but didn't see your post in the latest Starsan thread as I had been reading that thread so when I saw it pop up I didn't think to read it!

I wil ldefinitely listen to those podcasts!

Oh dear. We're back to the bad old days again. I would suggest just pointing someone the right way with your link would have been enough.

When I started on AHB many moons back, every second cheeky bugger used to post 'DFSFFS'.

But that was when every second question used to be 'Why isn't my airlock bubbling?' so I guess most of the more experienced posters were fed up with inane questions anyhow.

Had no idea what it meant at all initially but would pop up in replies to my questions regularly. (Meaning for those who don't know - do a feckin' search fer feck's sake!).

When I finally figured it out it made me laugh though

I find using my tap water it tends to go cloudy in few days.
However I have one of those brita type water filter jugs that I use to fill up my 500ml spray bottles then add starsan and this seems to last a really long time without going cloudy.
