Hey all,

Got 2 x perlick 650ss taps today from cheeky peak brewery, didnt have enough beer disconnects to hook both up,
but i hooked one up and it wont stop leaking. Not sure about the other one yet.

It drips probably every second.

Is there something i should look at tightening? Anyone had the same problem.

I also have 2 x 650ss i ordered from the states and those are perfect.

Any ideas?

Someone mentioned doing them up with the flow control open I believe.

There was a post recently about this but I'm not sure if it was the same tap

There is a right and wrong way to do up flow controls. I'd take them apart, take a look and reassemble.

Luckily you bought them locally, so worse case scenario, you're covered. But I'd imagine they just need to be put together properly.

I believe it is doing them up onto the shank not fully opened or fully closed, but somewhere mid-range is the correct way. This is usually if the level is pointing straight out directly at you on a horizontal plane.

Most likely just a dry seal, but needs to be stripped and inspected for damage to the forward seal and a little smear of a beer stable (won't affect foam) lube such as the Skerra Lube.

If you haven't stripped it completely yet, the forward seal is a flat faced round seal pictured right side middle.

This one had a smear of white powdery residue on it.

The issue with the position of the flow controller is more about getting the tap body to mount flush against the seal where it joins the shank.

Hope this helps
Martin

Martin is lubri film plus OK for contact inside a tap or is skerra a better product for inside tap seals?

I just ordered a 650ss a stainless shank and barb from cheeky peak today, i will let you know how i go.

I found my 650ss dropped a little after a pour. Lubricating forward seal fixed this.

I've just ordered a 650ss with stainless shank & JG fitting & I'll report back with how I go. Pretty **** though that you have to fiddle with it to make them work as they should straight out of the box. We'll see how they shape up against the Florytes.

I have one to open and install on Xmas day, will follow this thread and also let you know how I go.

Nah they're not that hard to set up. I've never had a keg before and set up 3 no probs

I'd never not pull a tap completely apart and sanitize, lube and reassemble. You never know what leftovers are in there from manufacturing whether intended or not.

To be clear i actually soak in PBW to sterilise as well, but some just sanitize by choice.

Mine were fine out of the box, I've only serviced them once which rectified things

My Perlick 650ss turned up today & I went about enlarging the hole in the Kegerator with the step drill to accommodate the larger diameter shank.
I grabbed a length of JG line & knocked it back to 1.5m in length. After some initial Co2 escaping solution, all has settled & boy, these taps are pretty impressive. It's way cool to be able to pour a trickle into a tester glass @75kpa without the blast of foam. These taps are not Andale Florytes & there is to me, a distinct difference in the quality & feel of the Perlicks against the Florytes. The Florytes are impressive & commercial quality & the jury's out at the moment as to whether I will change the other three out but the Perlicks are pretty darn impressive. The fact that I can have short line lengths & have full control of the flow rate, puts them right up there.
No leaks at all either straight out of the box so pretty happy with that.

Sorry crusty, Haven't had a chance to get back to you. Got a family member on life support in hospital :(

I Did get a beer line hooked up to the 2nd untested 650ss from cheekypeek. it works perfect.

I'll have a play tomorrow night and give it a lube as suggested and hope all is good.
