Does anyone have Ray Daniel's book, l Designing Greta beers? If so, do you think it worth buying?

Its a great book. There are no recipies in it, but thats what makes it a great book. Buy it and enjoy.

From my reading, I understood that Greta was not so much a literal 'who' as an allusion to the possibility of Greta-ness hidden within us all Manticle.

I think this book has been the single most useful for me as probably my fave part of this ridiculous pastime is recipe design.

Greta Garbo. Great actor who took out garbage as a hobby, and also a homebrewer?

Love typos. Reminds me. Just saw on facebook an image of a person who'd tattooed 'No regert' across their arm.

Not even one?

Off topic.... but we're in the lounge.

Reminds me of this:

Back onto books again. Can anyone recommend a worthwhile one about understanding beer characteristics? I mean all the ones I have read were written by merchant bankers.

Glot, sorry to take it off topic earlier. I found brewing classic styles to be a good read.

Who would have thought merchant bankers would be interested in brewing beer....

It's the pub. When was the last time you went to the pub and stayed on topic:)
I am just happy someone bothered to reply. Everyone must be bored.

If you're happy to put up with the ads and B.S. (I am), the brewing network has podcasts about brewing. The one I listen to is: "the brewing network - the jamil show".
