Well I've just prepared a keg to take a nice Wit from the fermenter and I kicked off Beersmith to see what number cube holds the other half of the batch so I can reuse the yeast. Whatya know it throws up an error dialog "BeerSmith Brewing Program has encountered a problem and needs to close."

I've done all the normal things, rebooted, backed up and reinstalled. No change! :(

I think its time for me to check out Beer Tools Pro.

If anyone has managed to recover from this I'd be most grateful for your comments.

regards
Scott

hi, how long do you leave the beer in the kegs before you drink them? for my survey. i find 2 to 3 weeks is needed to develop the correct flavours.

cheers alan

Hi Scott,

I would be posting your question to Brad at Beersmith Beersmith , I am sure he will help you out and find your problem very quickly. That error really could be anything from a virus, malware or even missing files and would be pretty hard for us to trace I think.

Cheers
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for the advice. I posted more out of frustration than expecting a solution. I'm in the IT industry and I'm aware of a number of things that could be causing my problem. Unfortunately when you are dealing with black boxes there is only so far you can go. I will contact Brad.

Cheers
Scott

I've discovered that if I ignore the error dialog, even though it remains in the foreground, that BeerSmith is completely functional. So I've solved the immediate problem of working out which cube has the Wit in.

I'll keep at it.

Geez Batz, you really do have a thing about anything with wheat in it... what happened? You must have fallen into a wheat harvester in a past life, or been beaten up after school by a box of Weet-bix... :p

He's been like this ever since he left the AWB.

I add wheat to almost all my beers in small amounts ;)

Don't tell everyone about the Weet-bix
