Hi,

I am new to kegging and am having an issue with beer not coming out of the gun, the line is full of foam.

Could this be over carbonation or something else?

The keg is about half full and the gun is fine and not blocked because I ran some water through it to test it.

Could be overcarbed or too short a line and too high pressure?

De pressurise the keg and then pop gas on for a second and try again.

What pressure are you serving at?

There is either not enough serving pressure to keep the amount of carbonation in the beer ie trying to pour at low pressure because your beer line is too short or there is too much carbonation in the beer for the serving pressure to hold in solution.

Either way it is out of balance somehow.

So, the line is full of foam and there is only foam coming out of the gun?.......or the line is full of foam and there is nothing coming out of the gun?

if there's ONLY foam coming out, then there's a few possibilities. It could be your beer is over carbonated, so if the beer is coming out at a steady pace and you get a glass full of foam, it is either over carbonated or your line is too short. (2m of 4mm, 3m roughly of 5mm beer line, 4 m of 6mm beer line will get you a decent steady pour) If the beer is spraying out at mach 2 then your pouring pressure is too high.

If you pull the trigger and nothing comes out at all, then either you aren't getting gas into the keg or something is blocking the exit of beer from the keg. If the gas is ok, then check under the kegs liquid outlet post (after you release the gas pressure) and make sure there's not a big clot of yeast and hops blocking the way out and while you're at it check to make sure the dip tube is clear, then sanitise it all before putting it back together.

Hope this helps and makes some sense.
