Hi guys,

Ordered my Barley Crusher from Randy at BC Products 7 weeks ago, but haven't received it yet (quoted 4-6 weeks postage). I know that post can sometimes be delayed, but what's the experience of others here who have ordered a Barley Crusher from the US?

Cheers, BenH.

The frieght company that they use quote 4-6 weeks to Australia. At our end, it is handled by Australia post who say 8-12 weeks.

Australia Post will not start looking into missing US parcels untill it is 12 weeks.

Mine took 8 weeks, which is the same time frame others have found for delivery.

Fear not, i remember the same concerns. With a few worried emails to Randt at BC, which they followed up promptly. Was all good in the end, but probably a week or 2 later than the quoted.

Yep, don't worry, it'll finally arrive. I think mine took more like 10 weeks from memory. Seemed a very, very long wait at the time.

Im in the marked for a mill and just checked out their site. In the end its either this one or the Crankenstein.

Can I ask why is every one buying directly from the manufacture and not Oz distributors?

You could wait for the mill from Mashmaster hefferflocken, should be out soon.

it was only a short time ago, that the manufacturer was "essentially" the only place to get the BC. there was Oz distributers, but you didnt get the hopper and it worked out more expensive anyways.. (from memory: this is why i bought from the US)

I bought one last year and paid for the air freight. It came within a week. I could not find an Aus distributor. If they existed they were keeping their identity a secret.

With the $A riding so high now's a great time to get one of these beauties. They truly rock.

You can get the Barley Crusher from G&G (listed on Barley Crusher website), but the G&G version doesn't come with the base plate, and it works out to be more expensive than going direct to Randy.

It's an agonising wait at the moment - I want (no, make that need) to brew 3 times in the next few weeks, and at this rate, I won't be able to use all that lovely bulk grain I have sitting in the cupboard!

Thanks for the info guys, I won't start freaking out for at least another couple of weeks.

Ben,
if you need to crush grain before your mill arives,
you can always drop in and use mine.

A friend and I went in for two barely crusher mills and thought we would skimp on the air freight and go surface mail.

Ordered on the 24/8

first one arrived 24/10

the second arrived 8/11

so don't hold your breath, but it should eventually get there.

I did the same... Was cheaper from direct from them with the air freight. Oz $ is a good reason to explore this over other mills.

I found the service very good, always responded within a day or two to my questions. I'd pop them an email to chase it up... can't hurt

If you are in or near the city just yell out as my BC is available. It will only cost you one of your brews.

Oh, the irony!

I went around to Dr Gonzo's place on Sunday at 12 to crush enough grain for my next two AGs (that took some advance planning, not something I'm known for - that's another story). Had a good time having a chat!

Got home at 1:30 to find.... you guessed it, the Barley Crusher had just been delivered. ON A SUNDAY! Whhaatthe? Can't believe the timing. (And who would have thought Aussie Post would do a Sunday afternoon delivery? ) If only I'd been 1 hour later, I would've been able to use my latest aquisition straight away!

So now I'll just have to turbo-brew the next couple of batches so I can really try the BC out asap.

On the bright side, I got to have a peek at Dr Gonzo's extensive beer equipment collection, try another one of his beers, and chat about what I like best.

Wasnt any malt flour residue on the mill was there Ben...?
I reckon you local postie is a brewer and used your BC on saturday, then popped over to yours on sunday to drop it off...!

My one was like that, I rushed home to measure out grain to rush around mikes place to crush it(as I had been for the past few batchs and I felt I was wearing out my welcome) before he left for holidays, only to be greated by a final notice from the post office to go pick up the crusher. 10mins till closing time I rushed down the street and picked it up.
