G'day folks,

I want to hang a clothes dryer in our laundry and after drilling into the wall I was faced with metal framing instead of timber framing and am unsure of how to go about dilling into and hanging the brackets on the metal frames.

Do I...

1. drill into the metal frame and just use "metal screws" to attach the bracket

2. drill into the metal frame and use a "metal lug" of some description...like the type you used to put picture hooks onto gyprock walls...where you put a "lug" in the hole and when the screw goes in it fans out

3. give up and just drink beer instead....although this wont leave SWMBO very happy as the dryer is in the living room at the moment.

Any suggestions would be great.

Cheers, Pok

Grab some Tek-screws. They aught to do the job. :)

How about useing a board same width as dryer or a little larger
Use roofing screw threw timber into stud.
Screw brackets to timber board.
Check for cables or pipes before drilling.

That's the way i would do it BB...

Looks like POK has it sort till we see the thread "Panel beating my dryer!" LOL

Well done POK

Poks last words before missus smacks him with frypan " I would have caught it but it was so funny dancing along the wall "

Be aware of the vibration the Dryer will cause, I would be tempted to increase the number of fixings to the wall to be on the safe side... last thing you want is it crashing down!

(just the engineer in me... being cautious!)
