So this is my 5th all grain brew. ive done a couple of tip out extracts also grrrr.
every brew i have done so far i have used US-05 and have been getting that awful green apple flavor coming through, The first few brews where fermented without a temp controlled fridge.
I have since gotten myself a fridge and a stc-1000 and have been fermenting them in there but still i was getting that dreadful apple flavor. So after a lot more research i came to the conclusion it wasnt so much the temp but more so the yeast was stressed and dying out. So this time i re-hydrated my yeast and well Holy @#$%.
I this recipe know its a bit off due to the amount of spec malts used V1.0 of this recipe. The only issue i was worried about was the temp in my garage its about 16.5- 17 down there. I brewed on Friday No chill, then pitched yeast Saturday evening and checked it today and now for the first time i have a 2 inch Krausen.
I plan on following Bribie G's post on fake lagering so 10 days in primary. rack and raise to 20c for a day then genatine cold crash for 10 more days.
Og was 1065 but after a 7lt sparge it dropped to target Og of 1055
