So, let's decide. When, where? (Why? )

I didn't put the 7th April as a possible as that's the Easter weekend and a lot of people will be away, but if you feel strongly about it, make your case.

The same with the location. If you have strong views on this (Miss Quadrilateral, I'm looking at you) then make your case and try to convince the rest of us. :super:

I specified "Other" for the location, cos I don't really care where it is :) I'd be happy with a Baulkham Hills pub-crawl if it were on :p

The venue and dates sound great. Unless I'm otherwise held up, I'll be there.

Balmain sounds good... a change from the city, but if people are keen to get there it's only a quick cab/bus/ferry ride away.

Will there be a plan of attack in case there are stragglers?

Balmain's not that easy to get to for people like us Sou Westers guys. If you're coming in from the south, it's over an hour's train trip followed a 45 min bus ride or a $35 - $40 taxi fare. I'd rather spend that time and money at an easy to get to pub with good in house beers, and roomy, clean facilities.

I can't be bothered putting in an argument for a city crawl as it's obvious a lot of you want to go to Balmain, but from my experience, the place is a nightmare to get to, several of the pubs have seen better days and there's never enough toilet paper or cubibles for that matter, in the ladies rooms. This is the problem with most suburban pubs.

I'll be dragging Linz and any other city bound crawlees through our usual list of suspects for some of my (and others) favourite and bizzare ales and lagers.

In fact, I think I'll give it a test run tomorrow! In the name of all things Australian of course! :super:

I am up for the crawl, and recon ya cant go past the 'City' for variety of beer and pubs.
Count me in either way
:beerbang:

a pub crawl doesnt really call for great facilities , i thought the purpose was to move from one to the other quite frequently ??

Sorry you feel that way, LS. I hope we can all meet up at the same place.

(Damned Splitters. Are you the Judean People's Front or the People's Front of Judea?) Sorry, we now return you to your normal, scheduled post. :p

Anyway, I think the bus trip to Balmain shouldn't be that bad. You can get a bus from the QVB, the 442, will take you all the way, only 18 minutes, goes every half an hour, timetable here.

Or take the beautiful ferry from Circular Quay, only 10 minutes and it goes every hour. Info here.

I understand what you mean about the beers in the city, but I'm hoping we can find some variety up there and something different sounds good to me. Anyway, if it's no good in Balmain, plans can always change. :chug:

Edit: Good idea of yours in the other thread, Mel. Anybody know what beers are available in Balmain?

Looks like the date is set if popular opinion rules. I spent my formative years in and around Balmain and don't think of it as a beer Mecca. But would love to be proven wrong.

Count me in for April 14 if ti is on then.

think you summed it up stu , just because we start in balmain doesnt mean we stay in balmain , we dont really need and intinery do we , if somewhere is good you stay if its not move on ...see where it takes us

If the crawl happens in April, there's a chance I'll be B.I.T. for it.

I am attending a wedding on the 28th. And the 21st is my birthday, so thats my vote.

Berp.

Ill be there if im not at UNI. I have also applied for a refusable job so if i get that I will be staying in sydney and not going back to uni. So then I will be able to come for sure. Balmain sounds like fun as long as I dont have to choose from the big three.

My dream job that ive been working for since I was a kid. I let you all know if i get it dont worry. :)

I have a PA hire on the 14th of April, so I doubt I can make it... I will try to get another lugger/operator to be there

howdy,

I'd love to meet some AHBers to discuss the (all too new to me) world of brewing etc.

I'm in Wollongong, so everywhere pretty much sucks to get to. 31st and 14th probably only dates I would attend, If it pans in around St.GI Dragons match dates, uni work and intense socialising, I just might make it!

I would like to go to Balmain for a change if there are any good pubs there (relying on Gerard on this matter )

But I am sympathetic to Little Squares as it is difficult to get there for us Westies .

Whilst I can find my way around Sydney I rely on LS understanding of the bus transport system to get too and fro Balmain.

I dont want to go alone on the buses , especially when I have a had a few and I dont want to sleep in the gutter and wake up with a sore arse . or picked up by a couple of old ladies from the bowling club in white uniforms .

I like the idea of the ferry to Balmain wil check out how much it costs

Pumpy

Only down side to the ferry would be that it drops you off on the wrong end of Balmain, and you'd have to get a bus to the other end and 'walk' back to where you arrived!!
