Adding Yeast

I have a can of Morgans Australian Draught which I am reading and it says add yeast and then stir the entire brew for 30 seconds to get the yeast busy and into action. This is the first can I have read this "stir" part on, what are your thoughts.............To stir or not to stir, that is the question

Back in the day when I did some homebrews I would stir the wort, sugar and water all together to ensure it's all mixed well and then sprinkle the yeast over the top, cover and leave.

I haven't read anywhere on here (well it hasn't popped out at me) that people are stirring after adding yeast.

Is it the same yeast that came with the kit?

I've always sprinkled. If you want to make it start a bit faster, get your yeast rehydrated and started in a little bit of wort before you add it to the fermenter.

Hello chaps,

I do the 30 second (or more) stir. Re-hydrates the yeast and adds a bit of extra oxygen to the wort, if you stir with a slotted spoon and a lifting motion.

That's what I reckon, anyway. :huh:

never done it any other way. Sometimes fermentation has taken a while to kick off, but always has fermented.
