Yeah, I did my first brew on that setup a couple of days ago. Significant difference to a stove top! 
I went straight for the adjustable high pressure reg based on what I read and sounds like I've made the right choice. In saying that the 3 ring and HP reg were more expensive than a Nasa burner based on prices I've read on here but I'd already made the purchase.
Only problem I had was the legs on the 3 ring don't sit perfectly in the rim so it wasn't quite level but this can easily be fixed with some flat plate. Probably look at that this coming weekend. Didn't have any problems with a sooty flame but I had a look at the rim and it already has holes around the outer edge so that may be why.
I did have a boilover for the first time, seems I need a bigger pot now or I could convert that keg I have sitting around.
