    That'll teach me to complain

I’d lost self-confidence because of put-downs and criticism so I made an appointment with my psychiatrist. He told me not to worry about low self-esteem, saying it’s very common amongst total losers. When I was a child I had many imaginary friends. They were real people... I just imagined they...

    Keezer assembly

I call it an assembly because there was minimal building. The only real "difficult" part was as a first time epoxy user, getting a halfway decent finish. It's a F&P freezer, with enough room for 3 kegs, although I've fitted it for 2. Sorry, no pics taken along the way, just the final thing...

    Mangrove Jack Northern Bitter

As a long time kit brewer who is now too long in the tooth to got to anything more complex I recently did a Mangrove Jack pouch of Northern Bitter, no embellishment and just as the instructions say. I have to say that it does what it says on the tin (pouch?). A decent English Bitter (the bloke...

There's an interesting new yeast I'd like to try

I'm wondering if anyone has got any,........ I've been having trouble with gout, so I'm drinking way less beer and certainly avoiding a yeasty drop, but this new strain might be the answer to the pain of the gout. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-32780624 Sounds good eh?

Ginger Beer Kits - hit and miss

Does anybody else find ginger beer kits to be incredibly hit and miss? The Mrs likes the stuff so we've always got 2 or 3 batches on the go and it varies incredibly. We've tried a variety of makes etc etc one time brilliant, the next awful. Tried the non kit recipes and not really found a...

    Diy rocket fuel

I've tried a number of different styles based on the recipes on this site. The fruit drinks at high percentage can be interesting. http://homebrewingcaps.com The caps themselves can be quite useful. Thought some of you folk might be interested.

    Women.

Taking a chance on being crucified here. Things that women do that bug you. One for city dwellers. On entering or leaving a large crowded store or pavement. They STOP and look around for where to go next. Naturally you are right behind them and don't expect the emergency brakes to be...

    Fermenting too warm

Hopefully this isn't too naive a question, and I can't find much detail on it, but..... What is the likely outcome of fermentation at too high a temperature?

    Paul Hogan

Just got in from seeing him do his one man show, an illustrated monolog of his career. If you remember his original show, enjoyed Mick Dundee etc and he's coming to a theatre near you get out and see him. Real entertainment, well worth a punt.

    Oscar Pistorius

I see he's sold his house to cover his legal costs. Half a million Rand less than the asking price. Does that mean the new owner will make a killing there one wonders......

    Tough Tins

I've often despaired with the strength of the tins that brew kits come in. And bought and wrecked many a tin opener...expensive ones too . Always reverting to an old folding, camping opener I bought for a few pennies years ago. So how do you break into the bloody things?

You wouldn't want a warm beer

As someone who lived most of his life in the land of the Poms my first love, drink wise is English beer, mainly bitters. As we all know, it's served at cellar to room temperature. Great, it means it can be quaffed. Big gobfulls, unlike the sips we take from our frozen schooners in the pubs...

    Smooth ginger beer

I've found this online, I think I'll give it a go. Any ginger experts got any thoughts? http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=48082&highlight=Smooth+ginger+beer

    Acquired taste

I'm not really concerned, but.......... I've noticed that with most brews, and I include shop bought here, that I'm initially not overly enamoured with, they seem to become far more palatable after 2 or 3 litres at a sitting. Naturally I'm not referring to brews which are contaminated or...

    Hi

Hi there brew masters. Ian here from Port Macquarie. Mad keen on brewing but self limited to kits (unless you can persuade me otherwise) I've been brewing for about 10 years, which started when I was living (for way too long) in England. The land of the real pint (one of very few things I miss...
