    New Aussie Beer/brewing Mag

What?? A retailer who doesn't subscribe to the Peter Eastwood "All your profits are belong to us" philosophy? Could this be an epidemic starting here? [/sarcasm] EDIT:Removal of oft-repeated rhetoric - don't want to completely hijack the thread :P

    Just Broke My Hydrometer...

Brewing since 1992. Hydrometers broken = 0 (I use them all the time, too). Refractometers broken... well, thats another issue :o

What Would You Like Our Retailers Or Hbs To Sell?

For the money you would fork out for such an item, you would be better served going stainless! Plus when you think of the weight involved, you would want to invest said stainless in your musculoskeletal system instead  Now, now... no need to skite! All I managed was a Leyland P76. It's...

    Rusty Posts

As for cleaning the gunk, I would suggest either PSR or "Bottle & Glass CLeaner". I have used it extensively on kegs to get rid of old, hardened syrup etc and it seems to work fine. Now as for the o'rings, I know for a fact that they sell them at the Country Brewer stores. The yellow ones are...

    I Am A Homebrewer & I Vow Never To.......

Cock ale, anyone? Ha! Hahaha... BWAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Sorry if I sound a little jaded but... been there, done that. Let me just say that anyone who runs a homebrew shop does so FOR THE LOVE OF IT! I was told when I first started that those who work in the Homebrew Industry will never drive a...

    How Many Beers

I worked in the HB industry for a while and have converted countless pin lock kegs over to ball lock. It can be done easily, but as Doc said there are different posts out there - make sure you get the right ones (an expensive mistake if you get the wrong size or thread - ask your supplier or HB...

    Crazy Asian Sugars!

Kaffir leaves are an almost permanent addition to my Wit recipes - fantastic stuff. I guess that would make me a "Kaffir Boetie" <_< Sorry... couldn't resist that one. As for palm sugar, I have been tempted to use it in various fruit wines, but have yet to do so. When I get around to it I...

    Hbs Misinformation

And one big one (not based in Australia, however) that is not above feeding their clients a pack of BS if it serves their purpose.

    eBay Items IV

Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act. Should put an end to the legality questions of selling stills larger than 5 litres. Using them however, is another matter entirely. As for the 98% remark. Well... If some nob-jockey is going to commercially sell a product that they make, yet refuse to do the...

Good luck with that! It looks like it would weigh a metric ton! I once tried to get a rifle stock shipped over from the US by UPS... 3.7kg = $350 or thereabouts

    Deans Scene

A quick Google search of his name came up with several award winning Belgian ales (thats assuming there is not more than one Dean Pottle from Portland who happens to brew his own). But then, considering his absolute devotion to the product, is it really any wonder he knows how to brew great beer?

    Lacto's Place

A guy walked into the shop a few years back with it under his arm. He claimed to have come from a job refitting a pub and this was one of several fonts that were going to be scrapped, so they divvied them out between the workers. He had no use for it, so he offered it up. Says him; "Is $100 too...

    Lacto's Place

Well, actually... When we moved into this house a few years back (we had previously been renting it out) the ball and chain wanted a new kitchen, so I got the old one for my brew stuff. Nice exchange, in my mind :beerbang: I will be putting some rafters above all of this - along both the back...

    Lacto's Place

I finally started working on the bar area today. This is taking up half of the garage, so my car will never again be housed within :P The wifes half, on the other hand, shall remain spotless <_< Don't mind the mess, it will all be cleared up in good time. The "Buisness End" The flooded...

    Beer Tools Pro Question?

No It probably isn't any help to you, but you can make your own entry for whatever ingredient you wish, and input the data you require. Just ask your supplier for a lot analysis on the malt you purchase (a typical analysis would really be sufficient, unless you are really anal about these things).

    Champagne Bottles

The problem with Tirage bottles is their popularity and cost v's that of the more common 650mL bottles found in most HBS's - the old supply and demand concept. The 650mL bottles can be purchased from many glass suppliers in dozen lots due to the fact that they are so popular. I have not seen any...

    Champagne Bottles

Funny you should mention that. Several years ago I went to a certain university campus to offload them of a canner and a 600 kilo malt mixer they no longer used. Said campus specialised in teaching food science, in particular viticulture and oenology. Littered through the bins there I saw dozens...

Pub With One Beer - On Fox Last Night

Oh... I could tell you some stories, but I'm afraid that would get me and some good friends in a lot of sh1t if I did. But, on a less cryptic note, the first time I drank there it was owned by his father and he made a fan-bloody-tastic bock. The last time I drank there (a few years back, now)...
