Pc Laptop Vs Ipad For Brewing Software.

Have had an iPad for about 6 months now and rarely used my laptop since - unfortunately brewing was not the priority when it was purchased, however, it works really well as a brewing tool. Never really standardised on brewing software for the pc. Bought Beer Alchemy, works really nicely on the...

    Wanted: Ss Vessels, 150-200l

Hi Don Mateo Again, not selling anything but making up larger boilers out of recycled solar hot water storage tanks is pretty easy. I've made a couple up to 120 litres. I've used both 150l and 300l tanks for my vessels. Work out how long you need them for the volume. Cut them off with a jigsaw...

    Chilli Beer How To ?

Hi I've made a few chilli wheats. I've always boiled my chillies in the sugar I use to bulk prime. Couple of cups of water, the appropriate amount of sugar and 6 - 10 thai chillies that I grew. The first time I did a bit of a test with eye dropping a bit into a glass of beer and tasting. Able...

    Southern English Brown Ale Recipe

G'Day Stu Made a Southern Brown not long ago, more in the line of a Manns Brown Ale. Used about 14% crystal (50/50 Pale and medium) Other than that fairly similar. Aimed at 1035 OG Mashed at 69/70 C for low attenuation. FG 1014 with Safale SO4 yeast. Safale did a good job. Came out pretty well...

    2008 Hop Plantations

I've always just let them grow. They need leaves to grow. (please note not a botanist) I always try and hit them with everything in moderation fertiliser, manure, b&b AND I'm a big user of liquid fertiliser. Keep them well mulched. In one of the basic brewing radio podcasts, James talks to...

    Heater Pad With 46l

Had a mate try and hatch chickens with a heat belt. Ended up a sticky orange melted mess and tripped his circuit breaker. I only have 1 belt. I keep my fermenters well wrapped up, close together and swap which fermenter has the belt each night. Not ideal but sufficient. Regards Andrew

Is It Ok To Use One Pack Dried Yeast For 40 Litres If ..

Got caught out the other day. Thought I had three T-58's for 50 L of a Belgian Ale, but only had 1. Solved the problem by rehydrating yeast as per normal, then running 2 lots of 1.5L of wort into 2L Juice bottles. Tip half rehdrated yeast into each bottle, shake, open lid sqeeze bottle in and...

    Found 2 * 80lt Kegs

Have 2 of these galv shrouded kegs - both 50L. If they have the big nut to hold the lid bit on, they make terrific 50L fermenters. A 19L corny keg lid o-ring fits the opening in the ones I have - a piece of clear acrylic for a lid, drilled with a grommet for the airlock, screwed down tight with...

    4-ring Burner Setup... Any Good?

Happy with my 4 ring burners as well. I reckon you will have problems with any burner if you don't get the wind problem sorted. I brew in a shed and if the doors open and windy it blows it around a fair bit. Adds considerable time. Solution - shut the door. Have improved my gas efficiency...

    4-ring Burner Setup... Any Good?

I have two of the 4 ring burners - one just the rings, the other exactly the same as the pic, with the stand. I use one of the adjustable LPG regs as shown on beerbelly's site. This drives both burners at the same time. I usually do 50 - 70 L batches (boiler and HLT), have done 100L and last...

    Adjustable Regs

I use a similar sounding reg to run 2 x 4 ring burners - boiler and hlt - off a 45kg bottle. Regularly do 50/60 L batches and have done 80L. Only time I crank it is bringing water/wort to the boil. Also use it as a fine adjustment on keeping the rolling boil. Boil for 50L batch usually ring 2...

    Wa Hop Rhizome Bulk Purchase

Thanks for looking in to organise this. I would be interested in a couple of varieties, again dependent on cost. Regards suitability of varieties, in Collie, Columbus and POR grow and produce very well, Goldings at about 30% and take a year or two to get going. Trick with the Goldings seems to...

    Combating Boil-overs

I always skim the froth/foam as it comes up to the boil, usually with a large perforated SS spoon. Takes off some pretty gunky looking stuff that probably shouldn't be in beer anyway. Also means you're at the kettle as it comes to the boil and can turn it off quick if it starts coming up too...
