That's awesome... Just need to rig up a trolley to it and it's even more portable...
Oh and you need that Beer ONLY!!! sticker as well for the front ;)
I picked up some SN Pale Ale's from Bayfields at Belrose. Was quite surprised to see it there.
Looks like they only ordered a few cases as they were only selling them as stubbies.
BjornJ: anything in the high 30's for IBU is awesome. That's just my preference...
Good work Neill you posted this on: Aug 4 2009, 07:49 PM
And the thread is still going strong...
I've made a few different variants on the original recipe and have always found it to be awesome.
Wonder if it...
Cool. I actually like the idea of roasting them. It kind of makes sense.
I'll try that I think. Might experiment with maybe 200g of Cashews though.
See how it goes.
Thanks Drew. That's a really good idea. I was thinking that if I could get some of that nice Cashew charactisic into a darker beer it may taste ok. I'll see how it goes. Might boil with a bit of dry malt in there to see what happens.
Hi guys,
I had this crazy idea to do a porter or something with choclate grain in it but also adding Cashew nuts to it. Anyone done this before? Just wondering what the general concensus would be. I am leaning toward mashing with the cashew nuts but I'm wondering if that will stuff with the...
If you're making a starter for anything then you want to give it 2-3 days before you pitch it.
You want to pitch it when it's fermenting. I always aim for 2 1/2 to 3 day before pitching my starters.
I'm sure cider will be the same. If you're going to use US-05 you could use a packet to start it...
Wadey,
Hey mate. Lots of questions in that post which I'm sure will gets lots of responses.
Regardless of use I always wash using a bottle bush and standard dish washing detergent.
I have aquired lots of glass long necks which I perfer over plastic PET bottles. I just like it better.
I then...
I used US-05 in my honey wheat beer. Not much honey flavor though.
I used only 500g in the brew. I would probably experiment with more if I did it again
It was suggested that when making a honey wheat beer you steer clear of eucalyptus based honeys as it flavours the beer with eucalyptus.

I think what document is suggesting is overkill. I only rack to my secondary if it's going to stay in there for a week or so. I also dry hop when I rack. As far as that kit goes I would just bottle straight from the primary. Secondary fermentation will occur in the bottle carbonating the beer.
I rack to secondary fermenter via the tap with some silicon tubing. I wouldn't worry about getting some of the crud from the primary in the secondary. It should fall to the bottom in due course. The secondary is cleaned and sterilized the same as the primary... No rinse iodophor.
