Hello,

Prepared my yeast starter last Wednesday for a brew I had planned over the weekend. Brew day didn't eventuate so the yeast is still in the starter at 4c (in the fridge) in an airtight 2l cola bottle. Wondering if it can be kept like that for a couple of weeks (next chance to brew is 7th December) or if there is a better/safer way to preserve it.

Keen to preserve the yeast if I can, to learn some new tricks and save a few $$$.

Thanks,
Joe

Keep it there, bring it out a few days before you need it, decant the spent starter liquid and add fresh wort

Don't tell Yob I said this, but if you bring it to room temp and pitch it, it will work.

that will also work, agreed... buuuut.. if you want to be a good yeast daddy.. look after those little troopers ;)

Hey. I said no one to tell YOb.
Who dogged????

Viability decreases by something like 5% for every day it's stored, right? So the longer it's left, the further below your targeted pitching rate it'll be.
