Hi Guys,

Preparing to do my second home brew with my new kit. The kit is only a 5 litre one. I've used the spreadsheet that Ian designed on the other thread and come up with my basic recipe for an American IPA.

Just a question on the yeast. The calculate how much I need, do I just assume a normal packet would make 23 litres ish so divide the amount by 5?

Depends what you mean by "normal packet". Also depends on the gravity of your wort. Assuming you're talking about an 11.5g packet of yeast, and 5 litres of wort <1.060 OG, then I'd add ~3g of yeast.

If in doubt: http://www.mrmalty.com/calc/calc.html
