Going to brew a Kolsch next, 2 of them actually so purchased the wyeast
Just wondering what size starter to use ?
Checked on Mr Malty, do I treat it as a hybrid if so he says 1.2L as mfd is 13/8/14
I only have 2L wine flagon for starter bottles but I do have a stir plate I made.
Can I do a 1L starter several times to build up slurry to appropriate levels pouring beer off each time after ccing it
Or should I split the pack put one on the stir plate & shake the other one intermitently using 1.3L wort
All advice appreciated

sorry 25 Litre ferment size for the above cheers

What is your OG? For an OG of 1.048 I get that you need an 3.03L starter on a stir plate.

og would be 1048 had a look again on MR Malty & that other calc you gave me cheers 297 billon cells needed
with one pack Mr Malty 2.72 L & the other calc cheap monkeys would be 1.25 L 3 steps to get 310 bill cells
I no chill & 1 cube gets me 24L in fermenter the other 23L so 2.8 & 2.4L starters
Thanks mate understand it a bit better now might do 1 starter now & throw a pkt yeast at the other one
