My thermometers have arrived so I thought I would post some pics.

Please hold off for a day or so that I may estimate postage and set everything up so I can handle the orders.

You need a 1/2inch socket, you could probably make up a "weldless kit" by getting a couple 1/2 thin nuts and a few washers, but it really depends on what your boiler is made of etc. I am sure it will not be long until somebody buys one and does a weldless job on it, but if you already have a tap you can probably get away with putting a T piece on and having the thermometer thread into that and the tap on the T.

Planning on doing a weldless fitting with mine when they arive - 1/2" ss nut and silicone rubber gasket on the inside should do the trick, with a bit of teflon tape on the thread

Would love to see a pic of the weldless fitting once it is done, I have 1/2 sockets on my kegs so I dont want to drill another hole to demonstrate.

They are nice Brizzy !!!

Do they need to be inserted in a 'thermowell' ( a sort of cover for the probe )to stop them corroding ?

Pumpy

Pumpy they are made from 304SS which will corrode if given enough time and a corrosive solution but I would say if your keg will corrode first and drain all the corrosive liquid with it. No need for a Thermowell IMHO.

Hey top price BrissyBrew! :beerbang: Can see a lot of brewers grabbing these.

This is a weldless fitting.

Good way to kill two birds with the one stone is to run your sight-glass on the same 1/2 inch tee. Not sure of the name of it. Readily available at Bunnings in plain or chromed-brass for about $5. :beerbang:

Just install the same way as a ball-valve. 2 x brass flange nuts, pipe thread and red fibre tap washers or even better silicone washers. :)

Hope this helps somebody.
