Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has a crown urn strainer/false bottom they would like to part with or if anyone has actually used one and thinks they are worthwhile?

Cheers,

Daniel

I just use bulldog clips to hold my bag off the element mate. Works perfectly. Saves fishing out a false bottom later and you can scrape your element mid mash (important if stepping from acid/protein rest temps). Save your cash for a stainless mash paddle/scraper. I got one from a catering supply store for ~$30 and its ~700mm long. Makes scraping/stirring mush easier than those crap plastic ones that are only "just" long enough!

Hi Daniel,
The false bottoms in my opinion aren't worthwhile. If you have a pickup tube it interferes with the false bottom. I have one and replaced it with some small stainless trivets.
Regards
Chris.

I use a roasting rack ($10 or 15 from a kitchenware shop) and dog clips!

(Edit - a roasting rack is easy enough to fish out after the mash - with the back end of my long spoon.)
