Hi all, I'm heading overseas for 2 weeks and since the kegs are empty I'm keen to ferment a batch of Hef while I'm away.

So I got some WLP300 which I've never used before. Just read a lot of reports of the krausen going batshit crazy and blowing out the lid routinely.

I'm doing 20L in a 30L fermenter. Planning to ferment at 17C. Hopefully any blow off will occur within the first 24hrs so I can deal with it but what do you reckon? Would you leave it to its own devices?

I've not used the white labs but use wyeast 3068 a lot ( similiar/same ?), if gladwrapping then it expands a fair bit to accomodate . Might still make a bit of mess, but I'd be happy to leave it.

At 17 with 10l head you're probably OK, but it's pretty easy to rig up a blow off. Better safe than sorry.
