Hi All,

Background: I just worked up a Schwarzbier recipe in BeerSmith and I'll be using White Labs German Lager WLP830 yeast which has a minimum temp of 10C and max of 12.8C preset in BeerSmith.

Observation: When I printed the Brewday Sheet I note that the recommend fermentation temps for Primary and secondary fermentation is 20C.

Question: Have I done something wrong? or is this just something BeerSmith does and ignore the temp advice and ferment at 10-12C.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Cheers

I've never noticed (my) BeerSmith auto-magically enter the fermentation temperatures based on what yeast I selected, I though it was always something you needed to do manually. Ferment at 10-11 and you should be fine. :)

You can adjust the values in the print out to what you desire.

Do as Screwy suggests.....

I use 830 as my main lager yeast. I always cold pitch at 7.5c. and run it between 9 and 11c.

Cheers, Hoges.

In your 'recipe view' in Beersmith under 'fermentation' you can adjust the temps, and they will then be printed on your Brewsheet.
