I was lucky enough to make my way through most of the taps at Keg and Brew in Surry Hills over a few nights this week.
One brew that really caught my attention was the Fat Nerd Vanilla Porter. I was expecting that typical vanilla bean / extract flavour, or the 'vanilla flat white' pump syrup flavour, but instead it was something closer to the vanilla you get in... I dunno, car air freshener? Pot pourri? Toilet spray? If you ever used Fudge shampoo when it came in the big orange pump bottles, it was exactly like that.
Now that sounds perfectly bloody awful, but it wasn't. I really enjoyed it. It was the only beer I had more than one (OK, that and the oh-so-buttery Badlands bitter).
Does anybody know how they do it?
