Hey all! :)

Now I dunno if I'm going mad - or if my taste buds are different every day - or if gremlins are swapping my bottled beers :blink: , but I am almost certain that in one batch of beer I have done, different bottles taste, well, different!

Now I dont mean off or cardboardy or in a nasty sorta way .. just maybe not as hoppy or more - umm dunno how to describe this - "full" maybe?

Erm - am I going through beer induced madness or has anyone else noticed differences through some of their bottled batches too?

Differnt carbonation levels in bottles certainly, and the beer drawn from the bottom of the fermenter can be a bit chewier & cloudier due to more yeast. But generally the taste is pretty uniform. Are you storing all the bottles in the same place? Any to light or heat differences?

Nope - all in the same place, same temps etc etc. I did wonder tho if the frist lot of beer out the fermenter may taste a little different to the last lot.

Hmm - next lot i bottle I think I might mark the bottles - just out of curiousity.

Happens to mine too, I thought maybe that some bottles I had cleaned better than others. Might be the last batch bottled too. Good point........... and I thought it was just me. Those voices are calling me again!
 
Bottled beers do change with time. It also depends on what you have eaten before sampling that also changes your perception of a beer.

I know what you mean. Has anyone noticed the different taste perception after you consume baked beans on toast? :angry:

I'm struggling to to find a style that compliments Baked beans, but I'll keep trying :rolleyes:
 
Biz ,

Yes the taste will change over time in bottles, if you can imagine the amount of sugar in the bottle will change over time ,as the yeast gradually consumesthe sugar,t so in a number of months it will probably become dryer and it will become more carbonated .also some beers improve with time especially the stronger beers .
I found a particular flavour developed in my bottles over six months which I did not like ,so I changed to kegging ,this way you store your beer in a fridge and it tastes in my opinion more consistant .
I do not bottle any beer these days as although it started out OK, long term I was unhappy with the flavour .maybe it was to do with the storage temperature .

suggest you move to kegging your beer, it really was the best move I ever made .I assure you ,carbonation levels are more controllable and dont have to wait so long before you drink it ,plus I believe yoou dont waste so much , if I want a small glass of beer ,I pour what I want . :)
