What would be the effect of using a proper lager yeast & temperatures, instead of the kit yeast in cans of Coopers Lager, Mexican Creveza or Tooheys Lager etc, that use ale yeast?

I imagine it would be an improvement on the overall quality of the product. To my knowledge also (correct me if I am wrong) the main reason that they are "faux" lager, is because they contain ale yeast rather than lager yeast. I could very well be wrong though. Give it a go, see what happens!
