Just wondering what people use 50l kegs for other than boilers? Ive seen them made into a potbelly heater before that worked a treat.

I put beer in mine. :D

Don't happen to have a pic of one made into a potbelly do ya? :)

Hi Paul
I made a spit out of one a couple of years ago. Works a treat!

Cheers!

Dont have a pic of the keg as a potbelly fire.

It had a door cut in it that was on hinges so you could put wood in it.
It had a grate inside so the wood just up off of the bottom for airflow.
It had lots of holes in the bottom to let air in
It had a chimney made from glavanised downpipe about 3-4 inches in diameter

When it was burning the keg was glowing orange at the bottom and red at the top. The flame would come out of the chimney at times.

We had to stand back from it about 4 feet as there was plentry of heat thrown out, much better than those gas patio heaters where all of the heat is head height while your feet remain frozen.

Hope the description helps

Yep. Thanks. :)

Might even get around to making one. - just in time for summer. :p

am I the only one slightly concerned (probably not the right word) that some bloke is advertising making his spit from an old tooheys keg...isn't that illegal to own let alone sell on ebay?
