As I'm sure most of us do, I have a bunch of hop left overs in my freezer. Some of these left overs have been there a while, some are fairly fresh. Anyway, I want to get rid of them to make space and to save me from throwing them out, I thought I would post the list up here and see what recipes you guys might suggest I could use them in.

Here's the list, in no particular order:

60g Nelson Sauvin 9%
40g Cluster 7%
22g Amarillo 8.2%
35g US Liberty 3.5%
45g Willamette Flowers 6%
10g Fuggles 3.5%
30g Aus Super Pride 13%
25g Cascade (maybe?) ?%

I'm happy to use whatever malt bill, so suggest away!

Enter the Hop Bomb!

Maybe Philip's 10 min IPA in the recipe forum.

You could mix a heap up then just add some to the boil every minute for the last 10 minutes.

Haha! Love it! Mixing it all up is a great idea!

What's the hop bomb??

Backyardbrewer had one at the recent SA Case Swap - heap of hops in a beer basically. Big bitterness (200+ theoretical IBU, big malt bill, late hopping, big bitterness, aroma and flavour. Tasty but everything you drink after pales in comparison...

Great idea. So how's something like this then:

5.5kg Pilsner Malt (I have some of this left over too..)
0.4kg Caramunich II
0.25kg Amber Malt
0.25kg Carapils
15g Aus Super Pride (13%) @ 60min
15g Cluster (7%) @ 60min
25g Hop mixture (7.2%) @ 30min
15g Hop mixture (7.2%) @ 15min
5g Hop mixture (7.2%) @ 10min
10g Hop mixture (7.2%) @ 5min
15g Hop mixture (7.2%) @ 0min
US-05

Beersmith puts this at:
OG: 1057
EBC: 18
IBU: 46

Of course, that mixture AA% is a complete guess based roughly on what the individual hops average out to...

I think you could stick with your grain bill, and perhaps add some simple sugar to boost it a little and you will have a decent freezer cleaner.

I would say use the hops for their particular advantages. You have some cool hops to mix there.
My suggestion for hops provided you are chilling:

60 min:
30g Aus Super Pride 13%
30g Nelson Sauvin 9%

20 min:
20g Cluster 7%
10g US Liberty 3.5%
20g Willamette Flowers 6%

5mins-Flameout-ish addition:
25g Willamette Flowers 6%
25g US Liberty 3.5%
20g Nelson Sauvin 9%
25g Cascade (maybe?) ?%
10g Fuggles 3.5%
10g Cluster 7%

Dry hop 1wk:
10g Cluster 7%
22g Amarillo 8.2%
10g Nelson Sauvin 9%
