Hey Guys,

First brew with my Blichmann Fermenator and I hit a snag; I couldn't dump the hops.

Dumped the yeast no problems, but I was unable to dump the hops from either of my double dry hops. Yes, I did throw the pellets in loose and yes I did put CO2 pressure on the airlock to try and force them through.

As this was an aggressive dry hop, I got a lot of hop material through the racking arm. Luckily I was filtering.

Can anyone offer some personal experiences or suggestions for my next batch?

I think that unless you have something like a a 2 inch dump valve, you are going to have to leave those hops in there until after you have racked the beer off for packaging.

Ball valve, forget it!

A better option would have been to be aware of this limitation and add the hops in a boiled stocking, hops sock or hop bag, and plan to retrieve them with a sanitised spoon or dental floss placed under the lid/seal.

Sounds like you have an awesome beer there, and that will absorb some of your pain.
