Hi guys,

I have recently moved to the far northern reaches of this great country of ours and have a question regarding getting liquid yeast up here. Im up in Cooktown FNQ and getting stuff delivered up here takes on average a few days to over a week. If ordering liquid yeast is it going to survive a trip from say Brisbane in a truck or plane/truck for a few days at god knows what temp? Or am i better off just sticking with dried yeast while im here?

Cheers,

Pat

It will survive. Yeast is pretty hardy and can tolerate temps into the 40's easly. In fact, as brewers we retard its growth by keeping it cool.

Some suppliers provide gel ice packs for transportation.

Thanks for the replies guys. I can feel a bit better about ordering from so far away now :)
