Thermosiphon boiler

Anyone seen a thermosiphon in action for boiling+lifting water? Came across these guys who're using one to boil mash water and "pump" it up above the kettle, kind of intriguing.

If you really want to, google up Air Lift Pump but seriously dude if there is a more complex less efficient way to heat water than the way these guys have found I'd love to see it (not enough really good sight gags in life)
