An update on this as well as adding some more spots. I appreciate everyone is super keen to get building. I will say that the wait will be worth your while.
Progress: I found out the boxes I was planning on using won't laser cut / etch very well. I'm working on cnc options. I don't think I'll be able to etch the front panel like I was hoping to with labels etc (was going to be from the inside, so it would be durable and easy to clean the outside). The upside is that the front was polycarbonate - which is nice and strong.
Power connectors: So I'm trying to get something like:
http://www.neutrik.com/en/audio/powercon/powercon-20-a/nac3mpa-1 which would allow higher powered rigs to safely use the controller. (as long as you wire it correctly etc) I orginally thought they would save space, but they are the same size as IEC panel mounts.
Heatsink: It looks like I've found a supplier that can provide the heatsink pre-drilled. If anyone knows exactly how to determine how heat dissipation is calculated (IE - to be able to definitely calculate appropriate heat sink size - please PM me). I'm reasonably confident in what I'm getting but would like to be definite.
Power Supply - I've found a few options for the power supply, including finding a supplier of the slimline supply that Matho originally recommended (unfortunately more expensive than the other type, but may fit better)
The biggest part of ordering all the right parts is not obvious - the power supply size and position and the SSR size and heatsink size determines where you can put everything else in the box. Depending on how many connectors there are... this becomes critical. At the moment I'm planning on 2 power in - 1 for unit, 1 second one for a second heating element, three out - two for heating elements, one for a pump and of course temp probe. The controller will also have a couple of other connectors to control some other bits and pieces. One of which is an automatic hopper (hence my questions around the forum about people's average hop usage per brew and per individual hop drop etc). The PCB is currently being re-designed and then we will need to go through testing of the fab prototypes.
All of this to say - the new controller is going to be awesome!
