Oh oh, might be interested in this too. What quantity does the sacks come in?

I'd assume it's 50 pounds, 22.67 kilos, as the rest of their sacks. I've just found it's the DME with the lowest amount of protein precipitate in starters, which makes it a lot easier to estimate yeast volume in starters without rinsing it.

If available, it'd be up to us to split amongst ourselves. It could also be really pricey and not worth it.

I haven't tried them myself, at BB prices, now I think is the time for us to give them a good run and see where they're at. From everything I've read on the forums they're a quality malt, still considering a bag of the American pale, I'm just getting tight for storage.

Does anyone know if Keg King would mind me using theirs? I'd still buy the specialty malts from them and just buy the bulk stuff here.

Where do you live? I'm in FTG and you're welcome to use my mill. If you're too far, I'm sure there's someone out your way who'd let you use theirs.

That said, a mill is one of the greatest cost efficiency purchases you can make.

You'll be saving money in around 10 "standard" brews.

Assuming:
$5/kg for milled per kilo costs.
~5kg grain for a "standard" 23L brew
$139 for the keg king malt muncher
$55 /25kg bag at BB prices

10 standard brews = $250 worth of /kg malt
Mill + 2 sacks base malt (~10 brews) = $249

Yes, you need some spec, which bumps up the break even point to maybe 11 brews... or if you are doing Imperial stouts you might hit that break even point in 5 brews.

EDIT: my math is terrible... edited.. works out less than 10 brews, more like 7 or so

I've been waiting for this but the timing sucks for me. I’m still recovering from a neck op (can’t fully turn my head for a while) and will be at the tail end of radiation therapy and so will be unable to drive at this time. Any chance someone from the west of town will be going (within a 20 minute or so drive of Sunbury)? I will be able to convince the wife to drive me and the kids that far but I have no chance with Bayswater. I would be getting a couple of bags. Maybe a bag of base and 1 or 2 splits. I will be able to offer some homebrew/good bought beer as a bribe…
