well i just had to taste my first brew of any kind today
its a wheat beer and its only been in bottle 1 week, it was little flat and had no head-guessing it needs longer
but it tasted awesome :super: cant wait after they have sat for little longer.

probably will do another batch tomorrow, im glad i found this site
 
Congrats man good to hear it all went well and its getting tasty. I find in the weather we are having atm around 2-3 weeks and it will be more carbed. Look forward to having a taste!

tasted one of my brews after 2 weeks in bottle and she ready to go, its great, i love it :D

i like the fact that one of my favourite beers is easy to make
brewed another 9l batch yesterday to use up the other half pack of yeast
will try doing a MAXI next

was drinking heffe weizzen(last drop brew in canning Vale) at the sail&anchor then went home and drank mine, different yes but not worse
did i mention that i love it :D :D
 
Excellent choice, they're easy and cheap to make plus quick to ferment and mature! :D
Having said that a weizen or two has been on the drawing board for ages, wanted to try out loads of wheat in MaxiBIAB but just haven't got around to it. AFAICT there should be no hassles, but let us know if you hit any strife when you give it a whirl.
I bet it is pleasing and satisfying to sit back with the knowledge that the beer you brewed yourself at home in the kitchen is on par with the stuff at pubs, which costs loads of money. :icon_cheers:
 
I did a honey hefe which I've just cracked. Much better than any of Dan's hefes. Got me a cute girl's number so I must have done something right.
 
I did a 12.5KG 50/50 wheat/pils in a maxibiab 50L...

I got worse efficiency than I was expecting, and there was a lot of glue/paste lining the bag :)

...perhaps it was the mashing schedule...

same amount of wort that I got with a 10KG grainbill!

I'd probably suggest trying some sortof protein rest or something :)

Drinking so well ATM.

Easy as to make and surprisingly the dry yeast is adequate, though I know I'm better off producing it with the proper wet yeast. But in terms of ease and drinkability - definately there.

yep, will use 3068 when i do full batch and can pitch hole packet
this was my first ever brew so went with the dry, cheaper and easy to store half pack

In the 'states they often call their American Wheatbeers "hefeweizens" on the bottle. I bought a couple and went, "WTF? This ain't a hefe!" But they use an American Ale yeast - so it's essentially an APA with a crapload of wheat - an APA with a bit of tang.

But to make a German hefe, 3068 is close to essential. You could throw 3068 into some goat spit and it'd come out tasting delicious.

Yes I have to agree lol.

+1 fot splitting liquid yeast.
Split my last 3036 in to 5 test tubes.
