Guys,

Morgans WEBSITE has this recipe for OLD PECULIER.

1.5kg Morgans Amber Unhopped Extract
1kg Morgans Caramalt Master Blend
1kg Morgans Roasted Black Malt Master Blend
500gm Glucose Powder
30gm Willamette Hops Hops 1
35gm Fuggles Hops - Hops 2
12gm Fuggles Hops - Hops 3
1 sachet Morgans Ale Yeast

The problem is my LHBS doesn't have the AMBER extract in until next week, but for unimportant logistics, I have to buy it before this weekend.

What can I use as a close substitute?

Also where can I buy glucose powder? Health Food Shop?

Can any one help?

Just substitute dextrose for glucose.

As for the amber, I'd just use some LME instead, and add around 200-300g of light-medium crystal or caramel malt.

Wasabi, if you can wait a bit I can post a couple of OP clone recipe's.
One from Zymurgy magazine and the other from Brew Your Own British Real Ales From Home.
I will try and post them in the next day or two. These I think would be more authentic than the Morgans recipe.
Otherwise use light malt extract as I am sure that with 1kg of Morgans Black Malt Blend the colour difference between the light and amber would be unnoticeable. As for glucose substitute use dextrose or treacle for a bit more complexity.

Cheers and bollocks

Thanks guys, I have to buy this stuff Thurs night.

KOOK: It's not for me, its for a friend of a friend and I'm not sure if he is "into" steeping etc. I was thinking of replacing the UNHOPPED extract with DLME and maybe a little dark.

TDA: Would love some other recipes, even if it's just for me!

Tks for your advice
