Is there any point adding Irish moss at the end of a boil for a stout ?? I know it helps clear the beer, but is this needed in a Stout, does the dropping out of the proteins (?) actually help the flavour as well

Last stout I made I forgot to put it in and the beer was fine, however it does help you precipitate out the hot break, which if it makes it into packaging can affect the shelf life and stability of the beer.

If you get a good whirlpool going then you should be fine, but it would be better to add it.

thanks mate doing beer now so will throw it in, no harm only upside
