Gday all,

Got my first AG down yesterday, just wondering what everyone does with their grain.

Any good for the chooks or is it no good after the Mash ?

Cheers

I've read that its fine for chooks ... just not goats... somewhere on here is the goat and grain story... my dog eats it out of the garden , i just dump it on with the mulch and the dog comes out straight away...

cheers FNQ,

the chooks are in for a feed then.

my old man always said that if you really hate someone, give them a goat !

mine go in the compost bin....down side is, it attracts fruit flys. I presume they love the sweet sticky wort.

yardy, all mine goes for the chooks, no probs so far...

Oi, that's enough goat-knocking! :D

Chooks love it.

Horses and goats also love it, but go easy on how much you give them. an overload of grain, especially if they aren't used to it in their diet, may kill them. Mix a bit in with some chaff and they'll be right.

We feed the chooks with it - we let it sit for a few days in the bucket first & it fills with maggots - the chooks adore it... Grat for cattle as well.

cheers Ross

It can kill Horses..it gives them colic..

My chooks try to get at it before it comes out of the Tun...

I've got to get me some chooks who are:

1: not bothered by two cavalier king charldes spaniels ?
2: not offended by being off topic

spent grain = brewers mulch ... at least in my garden ...

Just make sure your dogs don't get into the boiled hops. Or any hops for that matter.

From what I've heard, eating hops can kill some dogs. Apparently there are others that it won't affect, but I wouldn't take the risk.

Cheers,

Jens-Kristian

I've seen bread recipes using spent grains.

Also dog biscuits.
